Handmade Royal Sussex Trugs

Robin and Sue Tuppen and the team of artisans at Thomas Smith Royal Sussex Trugs make every single sweet chestnut and willow trug by hand, with ply coppiced sustainably from woodland near their farm in Berwick, East Sussex.

The Sussex Trug was invented in the 1820's and used by farmers to measure grain and liquids.

As well as holding a Royal Warrant, the business exports trugs all over the world.

Sturdy, strong and beautiful, these trugs will be your great-grandchildren's heirlooms.

Very useful for shopping, collecting fruit, vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden or orchard and also as a repository for seeds, string and garden gloves.

We have six of the most useful sizes available.
